I wrote this poem years ago (about 2004) for friends who were having a baby. It’s strange to read this the night before we become parents ourselves. Thoughts on Parenthood from Ones Who Aren’t Parents As if you’d take advice from us What do we know? The only young one in our house is a [...]

Aslan’s Home

Today marked the day when Aslan finally arrived home. We moved into a no pet room on September 2, and she's been in the kennel on-base ever since. Her quarantine period was finally up today, so I broke her free from prison, went to the vet, then brought her home. She was so excited to [...]

Back in the United States

We left Germany on Saturday, and made it safely to Seattle. We were a bit worried about Aslan in her kennel for 13+ hours, but she made it without incident. We had trouble finding and retrieving her in the Seattle airport, but in the end we reunited. She was bouncy and smiley as ever. I [...]

Friends, We have accepted a transfer to Okinawa, beginning in August. For most of the year, our plan was to return to Portland next year. We felt good about that. Around Christmas, however, we started to get interested in a possibility for one more DoDDS assignment. We decided that we'd try for that, or return [...]
